event

On Monday, January 27th, Chitose Group CEO Tomohiro Fujita gave a speech at an in-house lecture for consultants working in the GX field at Deloitte Tohmatsu Consulting LLC. Approximately 80 people attended the lecture, both in person and online.

In his speech entitled "Trends in Bioeconomy and CHITOSE's Strategy," Fujita introduced the philosophy and initiatives of the Chitose Group and explained the importance of utilizing photosynthesis to realize a sustainable and prosperous society for the next thousand years. He also explained the spread of the bioeconomy around the world and the potential of microalgae to drive it, and introduced the "MATSURI" project, which aims to build an algae-based industry. Everyone seemed to be listening intently to Fujita's message that "all existing industries will become bio-based."

Furthermore, he touched on the recent changes in the flow of funds surrounding venture companies, pointing out that while there is an accelerating trend of funding being directed toward solutions to social issues rather than toward technology or sales, money is also being funneled to greenwashing and projects that only feature keywords without substance. In response, he emphasized the importance of investors carefully assessing social issues, business viability, and technology, and explained CHITOSE's values of balancing launching businesses that start from social issues with scientific facts.

There was also an active question and answer session, indicating strong interest in business strategies in the bioeconomy field. CHITOSE will continue to work with companies and organizations in various fields to promote the bio-based industry in order to realize a sustainable society.
