CHITOSE BIO EVOLUTION PTE. LTD., the leader of the global bioeconomy and the headquarters of CHITOSE Group (hereinafter, CHITOSE), has entered into a capital and business alliance with TOPPAN Holdings, Inc. (hereafter,TOPPAN).
Since December last year, TOPPAN has been participating in MATSURI, a project which aims to establish a microalgae-based industry as an alternative to the petroleum industry, and focuses on developing bioplastics, chemical products, and recyclable packaging derived from microalgae.
Furthermore, the two companies are collaborating on the industrial application of animal cell lines. By combining TOPPAN’s 3D cell culture technology, “invivoid®,” with CHITOSE’s expertise in the area of animal cell line development for biopharmaceutical manufacturing, they aim to drive advancements in personalized medical technologies and enable the cost-effective production of cell-based foods.
Together, CHITOSE and TOPPAN are committed to realizing a circular bioeconomy that uses sustainable biological resources, such as microalgae, as alternatives to fossil resources, advancing biotechnology and sustainable economic activities.
