On Thursday, September 19th, we held an online information sharing session for MATSURI partner companies to explain "PET-MATSURI" and "MATSURI Gifts", two new sub-projects of MATSURI.
Approximately 60 people from our partner companies participated in this event.

In the first half, Senior Manager Shunsuke Oshima introduced the "PET-MATSURI" project, which aims to use algae to bio-produce paraxylene and BTX, the raw materials for PET resin, which have traditionally been difficult to bio-produce.

Oshima was enthusiastic about this initiative, which is the first in the world to produce PET resin - a material widely used in food packaging, films, cosmetic containers, vehicle components and more - from algae. He said, "I want this to become a symbolic activity for MATSURI, which aims to build an algae industry."

In the second half, Manager Yanagimachi Miyuki introduced "MATSURI Gifts," a unique project that aims to expand MATSURI activities.

"MATSURI Gifts" is a project to "create and promote MATSURI-made gifts" in order to replace gifts brought when visiting customers with algae-derived ones and to use them as a tool to appeal to customers about sustainable activities on an enterprise level rather than a divisional level.
Yanagimachi called on partner companies to "spread the excitement of MATSURI through the broadening of sustainable activities" and expressed her enthusiasm for creating new value in gifts with MATSURI.

After the event, many of the participants expressed their expectations for the MATSURI subprojects and their desire to participate.
With each company's strength and wisdom, we will accelerate our efforts to promote "PET-MATSURI" and "MATSURI Gifts."
